Through this article, we want to share a little bit about Mediterranean Girls In Music. Even though there’s a dedicated section on our website, a lot of people find us through this section, aka our editorial content. So we’re writing it here too and pinning it at the top of the section, so it's easier for you all to know what our project is about.
About
Mediterranean Girls in Music is a multilingual B2B agency and cultural platform created by women from the Mediterranean, dedicated to celebrating and exploring the music industry from multiple perspectives. The platform is structured around three main sections: the Music Industry Observatory, the Agency and the Editorial Section.
The Music Industry Observatory (launched in 2026) functions as a data library, offering reports and insights on the music industry. While maintaining a focus on the Mediterranean region, it also provides a global perspective, analyzing different contexts using proprietary and accessed data. This section covers topics such as business, market structures, leadership, diversity, music consumption, live music and more, offering an informed and analytical view of the sector.
The B2B Agency helps music companies and brands understand fandoms, culture and audiences, turning that knowledge into smart, actionable reports and strategies. It operates at the crossroads of business, fan culture, music, entertainment, strategic intelligence and cultural contexts across countries. As a B2B agency, it works primarily with record labels, music companies, brands entering culture-driven music spaces and music agencies seeking intelligence, helping them navigate audiences, fandoms and markets effectively.
The Editorial Section (the first section launched by the team in 2024) celebrates women in the music industry with a focus on the Mediterranean. While valuing artists and professionals of all genders and backgrounds, it pays particular attention to women and Mediterranean markets in order to honor local heritage. Actually, the media have repeatedly stressed the need for more women in the industry, and the Mediterranean region possesses a rich musical heritage that is at times pushed into the background in favor of larger markets. Our editorial content includes both our articles and what we share on Instagram. Through research, curated resources and a variety of formats, we provide insights into the industry, support those who want to explore it, whether professionally or out of curiosity, and amplify diverse voices.
We are not primarily focused on news and interviews. While we occasionally cover current events and interview professionals who showcase different perspectives and experiences, our main focus is on industry insights, cultural topics and original ideas. Although we are active on Instagram (at least currently), our core project is the website, where our editorial work is developed in greater depth. The two platforms are complementary, but the website remains our main space for content.
The idea behind the project...
Mediterranean Girls in Music was founded by Arianna Bartolozzi Bellantuono, an Italian business professional with international experience and a strong background in business management and the creative industries, including the music business. Her experience in the strategic department of the music sector inspired the creation of this platform, although her interests and expertise extend to other fields as well. Arianna holds both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from British universities, which further support her multidisciplinary approach and expertise.
She started the project with Dunya Fadili, an Italian-Moroccan philosophy student with experience at a local radio station and in marketing operations with a passion for music and writing.
Over time, the team has grown, bringing together young women in their 20s from diverse countries and backgrounds:
Brenda Román Moncayo (Ecuador)
Alexandra Lloyd (Ireland)
Sara López González (Spain)
Laura Calonghi (Italy)
Some have direct experience in the music industry, while others contribute transferable skills, giving the project a rich variety of perspectives.
