Spanish singer Lucila de la Fuente released Parque de Atracciones: a single with a meaning that is deeper than it seems.
A perfect combination of the romantic, the ephemeral and a reality in which Lucila shares her feelings and interprets how the places we love most slowly change, as well as the way we know them. The production, lyrics, and composition of the track express a feeling where stories, memories, and nostalgia come together. The core of the song seems to be something romantic, but it’s not quite like that…
Soy solo un paruqe de attracciones hecho para y ti y crees que vivo solamente pa' hacerte feliz
All of this is a metaphor. Actually, Parque de Atracciones talks about the phenomenon of overtourism in Spain and Mediterranean countries, with a subtle critique not of all tourists, but of those who are disrespectful and treat places like summer amusement parks, showing no interest in the culture or local life.
Produced by Paula Simón, in this homage to Massiel, Lucía and Serrat, Lucila expresses her thoughts on cultural stereotypes related to the place she lives. The track contains various elements that create a harmonious atmosphere and an excellent combination of sounds. These elements encourage the listener to travel to a Mediterranean environment that is both magical and magnetic. The choral voices convey the feeling of the space where the song is set, as if it were a journey through time, while their combination with electronic synthesizers adds a fresh and contemporary touch to the composition. The song includes a modulation (key change) that delivers an unexpected twist for the audience and refreshes the structure of the track, giving it a majestic conclusion.
Lucila highlights her talent, her beautiful voice, and her ability as a composer to reflect on culture and how tourism is presented in the Mediterranean. The singer had submitted this song as a candidate for the Benidorm Fest, which would have given her the opportunity to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest. However, Spain has decided not to participate in the 2026 edition.
Lucila de la Fuente is a stage name: the artist behind the project is part of our team, so we celebrate this release together with her!
