Miley Cyrus never disappoints and, even though we already knew it, her new album Something Beautiful she confirms her place as one of the most musical fearless icons.
Gone is the sun-soaked polish of Endless Summer Vacation. In its place is a bold and cinematic world filled with prog pop, disco haze and bursts of electric chaos. Is it post-apocalyptic? Is it spiritual? Miley Cyrus doesn’t choose. She creates her own world and invites everyone into it. Let's analyze it together!
Miley Cyrus new album is Something (very) Beautiful!
Miley Cyrus’s Something Beautiful is bold and alive. It opens softly with her voice over ambient sounds that reflects on beauty and creation. Then it hits. The title track bursts in like a storm, her vocals tearing through guitars and brass with direct power. From that moment on, you know this isn’t a "normal" pop album.
This is music that asks for your full attention. The production is lush and unpredictable, moving from bluesy guitar licks to swelling strings to deep, pulsing electronics and it doesn’t follow a formula. Everything feels intentional and every song feels special: they stay with you long after the album ends. The lyrics dig deep without being heavy-handed, they feel personal and true.
What’s most striking is how Miley blends so many sounds without losing herself. There are hints of past projects, from the trippy experiments of Dead Petz to the glam edge of Plastic Hearts and even flashes of her early pop projects. But this isn’t a pure throwback. It’s something original and particular. She’s not trying to please anyone. She’s just doing what feels real.
The final track leaves a mark. Inspired by a print of Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights, it reflects on the mess of the world with hope and sadness all tangled together, and this feels tagnible thanks to her powerful, deep voice.
Something Beautiful doesn’t need visuals or hype to land. It stands on its own and it delivers high quality.
